Book # 10 -- Ripley's Staff of Destruction by Yerikan

A long time ago while wiling away an evening in a road-side tavern betwixt
Antar and Barstow I met a particularly interesting mage. His name was
Ripley, and I'd heard of him before as 'Ripley Fire-eye'.

His eyes were truly alit with mischief, though after spending some time
with him I realized he harbored no evil... just an almost overwhelming urge
to destroy everything he saw. He did not admire the architecture of
buildings as he strolled about a new city... rather he imagined how best to
smash the edifice to a pile of rubble. He was incapable of marveling at the
beauty of a centuries-old tree. How to fell the wonder captured his
imagination, and he dreamed of the satisfying sounds of the giant tree
crashing to the ground.

Ripley seemed able to control his destructive tendencies well enough. Well,
at least he'd been able to pay off the damages from all the "experiments"
I've heard about, and even turned his life calling into a business.
Fortunately his knack for mayhem did not include wanton violence towards
living beings. It was his human side that was his undoing most likely, as
he was crushed to death by a building he had been paid to demolish. After
starting thedemolition Ripley noticed that a young child was stuck in the
sewer grate next to the building. Brave Ripley managed to free the child
and hurl it to safety just as many tons of block and timber buried him.

Ripley's staff was a powerful weapon of destruction, and was soon stolen
from his next of kin. Where that staff is now is unknown.
