Book 43 -- Journal of the Necromancer (last revised 11/08/00)

This was it. Free Legion was going to go to challenge the Swamp Lich, and I
was going with them. Of course, they needed me, in case they did find the
Lich's Staff, for no one was as good as myself, when bringing the dead to
service.

With the Lich Ring in the hand of Zandari, and their group ready to go, I
summoned two Skeletal Snakes to aid the group. Their ability to dodge the
quickest weapon blows, and their ability to regenerate, gave the group
valuable support.

As we stepped into the first area, we encountered many undead in the area,
which were quickly dispatched. The Skeletal Snakes performed well, tying up
creatures, buying precious time for the other members of Free Legion to
defeat their opponents on the battlefield. I made note of their performance
for future summons.

After wandering through some abandonded rooms, we encountered the lair of
the Oozelord. We've already encountered him once, and he almost destroyed
our group, to the last man. This time, I instructed my snakes to retreat
from the battlefield. Their instinct to kill is innate, but my control over
them was complete. This time, they did not die a needless death, and we
managed to move onward, towards the lair of the Lich...
