Book 60 -- The Firogres (last revised 6/07/02)

I, Einsiedler the hermit, have investigated through interviews of
refugees and consultation with other sages and seers who and what the
Firogres are. To the best of my research I have come to believe the
following:

Back in the Forgotten Times, before the Devastation, back when the
Prime's still ruled all the lands of the world, the Firorges were
created/bred by the Primes to their current form to act as
administrators, stewards, enforcers of the their rule over all
the "lesser races," especially Ogres. All of the races were created
or bred by the Primes to serve and entertain the Primes. Much of
the entertainment took the form of gladiator games, as they did in
Deathsgate. The Firogres were notorious for heaping abuse and
disdain on all the lesser races, but especially on Ogres for being
clumsy and slow. Some scholars believe that the Primes mutated the
Firogres from Ogres, but its wise not to let a Firogre hear one
repeat it.

Who and or what the Primes were is currently unknown. Were they
gods, an unknown race, extra-planar beings? Did they cause or take
part in the last devastation? All knowledge of the Primes except
for their existence has been lost.

Deathsgate, was a remnant of the Primes empire from before the
Forgotten Times, at least that's what most Firogres will claim to
show some connection to an Imperial past. However, much of the
accumulated knowledge and history of Deathsgate has been lost since
its destruction in the Demon Wars, and therefore the Firogre's claims
cannot be corroborated or dis-proven.

The Firogres of Deathsgate view of superiority, civilization, and
refinement definitely fits in with their view as inheritors of the
Primes, but their inability to protect Deathsgate from the demons has
greatly wounded their pride. The Firogres tap a collective
knowledge that is unsurpassed by any other race, but again the
Firogres obsession with the past, prevents them from being truly
creative.

The Firogres who currently reside in or around Varna currently are
mainly refugees from Deathsgate. Their numbers are few, but a
enclave has set up residence in Varna to promote a new Firogre
settlement and other activities.

This is all that I can surmise at the time.
